October News

4/10/09 Winnie is now mid way through her first season and is 'anybody's!!!!!' TIgger, Sweep and Bella went to UKA at Top Barn Yesterday but did not get to run as I judged all day. However today they all went back to play, some though with more success than others!!

Tigger trained his contacts in two classes and went beautifully. I ran him like an idiot in Senior Steeplechase and then he did a stonking Novice Jumping run for 3rd place. Again only beaten by 0.4 of a second. This small margin seems to be the story of my life?! Sweep was naughty as was his handler but both were consistent to get 3 E's!!! and BELLA bless her came 2nd in Senior Jumping and was 6th in Novice Steeplechase. She really does like the lower height jumps at these non KC Shows.

18/10/09 Winnie has just done a three hour training morning with Helen Brown. She behaved herself throughout. Her contacts were good (evening training in the kitchen is paying off!) and she did some nice jumping sequences with lots of drive and listened to me, turning left and right on command!!! Hopefully now a peaceful afternoon as she should be very tired!!!

17/10/09 sorry for a lack of updates but it has been very hectic at work with most things that could go wrong, going wrong!!

Anyway WINNIE's CEA Test results have come back from America and unfortunately she has tested a CARRIER. This means that any puppies she has will either be CLEAR or CARRIERS so long as she is mated to a Clear dog. None of her puppies can ever be affected with CEA but it is just rather annoying that it was not a clear test result! WINNIE is having her hips scored during October half term. I hope for a good score there as both of her parents have low hip scores of 4:3.

WINNIE has also finished her season and thankfully Tigger has started eating again as sex is no longer on his brain!!!

WINNIE has resumed Agility training and is going well. She has alot of drive but now needs to listen to mummy!!!!! I have brought a plank into the house so that I can practice her contact behaviour (2 on 2 off) every evening and in the garden I have just started with wide channel weaves. Tomorrow we have a training morning with Helen Brown whilst next week we are off to Lee Gibson's for a lesson.

I have also entered WINNIE in her first show - Nursery Agility at UKA Valentines in February!

27/10/09 Half Term is here! Yeh!!!! It is to be a busy week. yesterday all four dogs went to the chiropracter and all had lots wrong with them so it was a worthwhile journey. Tomorrow Winnie is being hip scored in Evesham and Thursday is training with Helen. On Saturday I have a UKA Steeplechase Show and then on Sunday Winnie has a training afternoon with Helen again. Clearly there is no rest for the wicked!!!!

28/10/09

WINNIE has been to Evesham today for hip scoring and elbow scoring. It cost a bl***y fortune!!! Any way both hips and elbows look good. We shall just have to wait for the actual scores from the BVA. This could take anywhere from 6-8 weeks.

31/10/09

The doggies spent the afternoon at UKA Cheltenham. Winnie had a mooch around the show and really wanted to have a go! Only 5 months to wait!!! Meanwhile BELLA ran her first senior steeplechase for 2nd place. Her useless handler then managed to E her in every other class. In fact the Senior steeplechase courses were more like Champ ones or certainly they were more Jumping type courses than Steeplechase. The dogs all coped well and if they had a more coordinated handler they would definitely do better!! TIGGER came 3rd in his Steeplechase class and I had lots of small stupid handler errors with Sweep who was certainly up for it following his trip to see Zoe the Chiropracter.

Well done to Jess and Boo who won 2 beginners Steeplechase classes and also to Zak who came 2nd in one at his first ever show. I hope Winnie does as well when she comes out next February.
