CURLY

26/3/96 - 1/9/09

Curly was PTS yesterday due to his arthritus and the consequential weak back and front end. The poor boy was finding it increasingly difficult to get up and I did not want him to be in pain.

November 2008 - A new addition to the family. I now have 6 dogs - mad or what? Winnie is the latest addition. She is an 8 week old Border Collie (red Tri colour). She is half sister to Tigger (same father) and her mum is Zeph (Wildsea Wychinour). Winnie was born in a litter of 8 puppies: 5 black tri's and 3 red tri colours. Her mum works C level Obedience and her dad is a Grade 7 Agility Dog. Puppies from this litter have gone to Obedience and Agility homes as well as the odd one to a pet home. Hopefully we will see some of her litter mates on the show circuit next year.Winnie has settled in well and is a real little live wire. When she is awake she never stiops playing.

Welcome to Alison's Collies

This web site is dedicated to my dogs. We have had dogs in our family since I was about eight years old however I was primarliy interested in horses during my childhood. I spent most weekends away at horse shows all over the South of England. Horses were however very expensive and what with less time because of work committments I decided to concentrate on dogs instead.

I started off with one dog, a yellow labrador called Curly. We bred him and he was born into a litter of twelve dogs in March 1996. I haved always wanted to have a go at agility and have watched this sport for many years at the Olympia International Horse Show. Thus in 2001 I thought about getting another dog to do agility. I eventually found a litter of farm collies in March 2002 and arranged to go and see them. They were in an awful state in the back of a land Rover and were being fed on chips! I had always wanted a black and white tri colour collie and there were two of these in the litter. I chose Sweep very quickly because he was the prettiest one. The other tri colour dog was much chunkier and I did not want a big dog! Being a soft touch I immediately felt sorry for the others so in my wisdom I decided to have another one!! I should haved known this was a silly mistake when the one I chose did its business on my jumper!!! The rest of the litter were blue merles. Inca was chosen because he also had beige colouring on him, making him a blue merle tricolour. I also ended up finding homes for the other two blue merles in this litter. The bitch went to live with my sister and the other dog went to a friend of my dad's.

As soon as the puppies were vaccinated their obedience training began. Luckily my neighbour at the time agreed to train Sweep and I trained Inca. At fourteen months their agility training started with a local dog training club and by 20 months they were just about ready for competition. I was always told that agility was addictive. It definitely is. I went very quickly from my little Clio car to an estate car and then to a van when the dogs outgrew the estate car!! I also had to move house because we needed a bigger garden. Oh and then there was the caravan?! So much for the dogs being cheaper than horses!!!!

In May 2005 I took on Bella. She is a sister of Sweep and Inca but obviously from a different litter. The local gentleman that had her as a puppy could not cope with her. She was a little mad!!! and has proved very hard to train for agility. Tigger arrived in March 2006. He is a pedigree Border Collie and very definitely had to be a boy after the Bella experience!!!!

In November 2008 Winnie arrived. She is a red tri colour and is a half sister to Tigger. This time it definitely had to be a girl because the boys would not have taken to another male in the house! So far I have not been disappointed by her: She is certainly a fiesty little red beast. Her nick name is Pooh Bear and she is very cuddly.
